Swinton and Pendlebury Crest

The name Swinton in Old English meant "a farmstead or place where pigs (swine) are kept".
The name Pendlebury in Old English meant "manor house or fortified place by a hill". "Penn" is an old Celtic word meaning "Hill". Place names ending in "bury" indicate a fortified manor or stronghold.
